Write a Book and Write a Short Story Project

The month of April saw the composition of wonderful short stories in the Senior Room and the production of beautiful books in the Junior Room. The children put their author and illustrator hats on and created fantastic literacy work as part of the ‘Write a book’ and ‘Write a short story’ project in collaboration with Carrick-on-Shannon Education Centre. These stories and books travelled to another school where they were examined and winners were carefully selected. Likewise, we received stories from a similar sized school to Boyle Parochial to read and critique.

This was a very worthwhile project in which to take part as it encouraged quality writing intended for an audience and learning about the structure of short stories, however it also gave the children a wonderful opportunity to read  and analyse the work of other students.

Great news reached Boyle Parochial School this week as the merit winners  and highly commended students of the project were announced. Two Merit awards for Boyle Parochial School  will be awarded  to Badger (Junior Room) and Ruby (Senior Room) at a special presentation evening in the coming weeks. Highly commended awards will be awarded to Amelie and David also.

Congratulations to all who took part in this great project and thank you to Carrick-on-Shannon Education Centre for organising this fantastic opportunity to celebrate writing in Boyle Parochial School.

Boyle Parochial welcome Rev. Yendall

Thursday 1st June will bring much excitement to Boyle Parochial School. The parents, students, teachers and members of the wider school community are invited to attend a Service of Welcome for Rev. Edward Yendall in Boyle Church of Ireland at 8pm. The arrival of Rev. Yendall is eagerly awaited by the students and teachers, who have already had the pleasure of meeting Rev. Yendall informally in school.

Boyle Parochial School look forward to supporting him as he embarks upon his ministry in our beautiful parishes of Boyle, Croghan, Ardcarne and Aghanagh.

Come Alive With Colour

We took part in a competition to win a make over with Dulux. Here are some of the projects we entered based on an underwater theme.
